Sample Ratings
Home Energy Ratings come in two categories: those performed
on new construction and those performed on existing homes.
E-Star™ Home Energy Raters collect data for analysis
on both new and existing homes. Builders may obtain a From-Plans
rating prior to building, thereby allowing selection of the
most appropriate energy-efficiency options for the homes they
construct. Prior to sale, builders request a final As-Built
rating to confirm a home’s level of energy performance.
Existing homes can be assessed with an As-Is rating, which
is requested by homeowners in order to identify current home
energy performance as well as improvements that can increase
performance. After improvements have been completed in an
existing home, homeowners may have the home reassessed through
a Post-Improvement rating.
